There may be times when you feel that the sharpness of the knife you normally use for cooking has dulled, and you want to improve its sharpness right away. If you don't have time to use a whetstone and just want to temporarily restore its sharpness, you can use a knife sharpener. However, this does not constitute knife maintenance, so we recommend sharpening it with a whetstone about once or twice a month, or taking it to a specialist knife sharpening shop.
